Are Fiber & Ore socks really that much better? Let's have a look at the numbers...

  • 66% less odor (even before we added copper!)

In blind sensory testing, wool carried 66% less odor than polyester and 28% less than cotton — and researchers found it wasn't about bacteria counts. Wool's fiber chemistry traps odor molecules and doesn't give them back. We took the fiber that resists odor and added a copper-infused blend, which goes after the bacteria that create it. 2 different odor defenses in 1 sock.

  • 20x more durable

Fibers break down as you wear, work, & wash them. This is commonly measured in flex-resistant tests. Synthetics break at ~1k-2k bends and cotton at ~3k bends, but Merino wool doesn't break until as many as 20,000 bends, making it up to 20x more durable than other socks in your drawer.

  • Draws 1/3 of its weight in vapor to keep skin dry

Cotton and polyester wait until sweat turns into liquid, then hold it against your skin. Merino pulls moisture in as invisible vapor, locking it inside the fiber itself — up to a third of its own weight — while the surface touching your foot still feels dry. And the tighter the shoe, the bigger the gap.

  • 96% less shape-loss

Merino wool eliminates virtually all permanent sagging. When you stretch an individual sock fibers even just 2%, merino wool springs back up to 99%, while cotton only recovers about 75%. And the actual breaking point for merino is up to 45% elongation compared to just 4-8% for cotton.

  • 4.5x better spring than alpaca

Wool has greater natural crimp and spring-like structure than alpaca fiber. At the same 18.5-micron fiber diameter, fine wool showed 9.5 kPa compression resistance vs just 2.1 kPa for alpaca. This means wool is superior at cushioning resilience and maintaining loft under repeated pressure (like runners hammering it with their heels!)

FAQs

Do they come with a warranty or guarantee?

Yes! We believe we have made the best socks on the market, with the ideal blend of comfort, style, functionality and durability. We back that with free 90 day returns & exchanges and an unlimited lifetime warranty to replace your socks for free if they ever fail to live up to your expectations.

Why will these be my new favorite socks?

A note from the founder:

"Why am I so confident that these will be your new favorite socks? Because, when I set out to create these, I didn’t stop until they were MY favorite socks! And it took hundreds of samples, tests, and iterations to get there. They feel amazing on my skin, the thickness and stretch is just right for everyday use, my feet are happy at the end of a long day on the go, and I can wear them every day for a week without a smell. And on top of that, I try to create designs that I would want to wear in my every day life, not just out on a hike…”

Are they worth the cost?

Of course we believe they are, but here’s why: our socks are not simply a luxury, but an upgrade to your everyday life. Like that flattering shirt, your favorite jeans, or your most comfortable shoes. Our unique Merino wool blend socks are softer, more breathable, naturally moisture-wicking, more comfortable, better looking, and significantly better at regulating temperature than your average cotton or synthetic pair. Plus, with our copper-infused fibers, you’re getting added odor-fighting power and durability right where you need it most. They last longer, feel better, and work harder—so you’re not just buying socks, you’re investing in all-day comfort.

Isn't wool scratchy & hot?

That’s what I thought too! I grew up with rough, itchy wool that we busted out like once a year for our Scout snow campout. Fortunately for us all, this is not that!

Unlike those awful sandpaper socks, Merino wool comes from a breed of sheep (Merino) that have very fine, soft wool that is silky smooth to the touch. Our socks feel like a dream the first time you slide them on your foot!

Like grandpa’s wool it wicks moisture to help keep you dry and warm in cold weather, but it is breathable as well so your feet don’t get clammy and overheated in hot weather.

Will these socks shrink?

Not if you treat them right! We do preshrink our materials to reduce the likelihood of further shrinkage, and Merino wool is more resilient than regular wool. However, like any premium fabric, it deserves a little extra care for optimal performance. We recommend washing them in cold water, inside out, and laying them flat to dry—this helps maintain their shape, softness, and fit. Tossing them in a hot dryer will cause some shrinkage, so skip the heat and they’ll stay looking (and feeling) fresh for the long run.

Note that in our own tests the shrinkage is pretty minimal after a low heat dryer cycle, and the sock will stretch when you put them back on. However if you plan on regularly drying them in the dryer, we recommend sizing up to a larger size when you make your purchase.

So my feet won't stink anymore?

We designed these socks to be the ultimate defense against foot odor! One of the main reasons feet stink is because your socks retain moisture, and that damp, hot environment is the perfect breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria. We use a specialized Merino wool blend that is naturally anti-bacterial, wicks moisture away, and is breathable to help with temperature regulation and evaporation. In addition to that, we integrate true copper thread and copper ion dyes into the fibers, which adds even more antibacterial and antifungal properties. That means less bacteria, less funk, and much fresher feet, even after a long day on the go!

Aren’t wool socks just for hiking and camping?

While not designed strictly as a sock for the great outdoors, our unique Merino wool blend, copper ion treatment, seamless toes, reinforced impact zones, and overall quality and durability make this a fantastic sock for hiking, running, and most other fitness activities. But we want you to enjoy the benefits of wearing these every day, everywhere!

How does Fiber & Ore compare to other sock brands?

Cotton and synthetic socks leave your feet damp, clammy and smelly, and they stretch and distort after only a few months. Alpaca socks are too hot for everyday use, and have a coarser feel. We created the perfect Merino wool blend to maximize the natural benefits wool in a silky smooth fit with a comfortable stretch, durable impact points, minimal pilling, and more.
